Mister P.: Ways out!
45 years old Mister P., one of my private clients, had lost his excellent leading position in
his company. He was identified by social criteria and a system of points. He could not even
stand the thought of being jobless. So Mister P. accepted a temporary job that was badly
paid and without any leadership qualities. He earned more than 1.000 Euro less than before.
Mister P. moved into a cheaper appartment, he sold his car and motorbike...
To me those steps seemed to be a signal of Mister P. for himself: “Caution, things are
getting worse!” In one of our coaching sessions I gave him that feedback of my perception.
Mister P. was promised a contract with the company after six months. He also was promised
a rise in salary. After the six months he got a contract. The financial conditions had not changed a bit.
Mister P. refused to sign that contract. His self-esteem had grown in the meantime. He stopped
working for the company. A few days after he had left he saw a challenging vacancy in his
favorite company. This job was taylor made for him. He applied and... got the job! It was
paid even better than the job he had lost in the first place. So in the long run losing his job
had improved his situation. It was a chance and it was far more than the first felt disaster.

For me looking for a new job is like an expedition. Before we start we have
to plan and prepare for it. We have to think about our destination and what we need
to get there. We use cards and location scouts knowing what is expecting us there.
Mister P. had a stop-over on his way to his dreamjob. He had enough courage and
endurance to leave in the very right moment. Endurance and self-confidence are important
“victuals” in your expedition’s backpack. Even more important are the maps and strategies
that give you access to hidden positions in the job market. Only 18 people out of 100 job
seeking persons find a new occupation over job offers in the internet or newspapers.
I supply you with help for self-help. I accompany you on your individual expedition.
